One more subliminal difference - hair length/style of the stiff in focus compared to the worldly influenced counterpart.

Fun with the July 15th WT illustration
by undercover inyes, friends, it's that time once more... when we clip some wt art to a post and try to find all the subliminal wt propaganda messages hidden in the illustration.
(kinda like, "can you find the differences between these two drawings" for kids in the sunday comics).
here's the illustration:.

Image of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by socstu ini'm looking for an image to use of the jws, it needs to be quite easy to identify them so i was thinking two people on the ministry or something like that.
i was looking in the yearbooks but nothing really caught my eye, can anyone think of a specific picture which may do the job?
:).

How come these "official" photos don't look anything like the occasional stragglers I see shuffling around the streets?
Eh, when has your burger at McDonalds or Burger King actually looked like the one on the billboard or TV commercial?
Advertising at its best, having nothing to do with reality.......

Something about the end of the current system of things they can't pony up to...
by okage in1975 was approaching and for years the society demanded the belief that god instructed these men of bethel to declare 1975 as the date for the end.
they talked about it in conventions.
they supported it in many of their publications.

I'd love to hire JWs, have them work for me and keep telling them that I will pay them "soon", that payday is "just around the corner", that money in their bank account is "imminent" and see how long they will last...
Oh, wait! The WT has already been doing this for ~100 years....

Tri-Forkation
by Yan Bibiyan inthis is going to be another memorial invitation thread.. before i get to the topic at hand, i want to quickly sound off on the invitation itself.
i had seen it online weeks before the jws came with a special invitation, so the content wasnt really news to me.
however, when i held it in my hand, i couldnt help but be disgusted by the joke of an invitation that flimsy small piece of paper was.. if you are going to invite strangers to the biggest celebration of your religion, please do not hand out what looks like pieces of scrap tissue paper.

This is going to be another Memorial invitation thread.
Before I get to the topic at hand, I want to quickly sound off on the invitation itself.
I had seen it online weeks before the JWs came with “a special invitation”, so the content wasn’t really news to me. However, when I held it in my hand, I couldn’t help but be disgusted by the joke of an “invitation” that flimsy small piece of paper was.
If you are going to invite strangers to the “biggest celebration” of your religion, please do not hand out what looks like pieces of scrap tissue paper. Mind you, you didn’t have to order them from a print shop; it is all self-produced and manufactured. Even the cheapest card at a dollar store feels and looks 1000 times more like an invitation than the drawer liner you handed me.
This is how the celebration of Jesus is announced? Believe me, my local landscaper, cleaning company or home improvement company do WAY better job in presenting their services with the flyers left at my door than your billion-dollar printing corporation.
What a shame, what a mockery!
Now, after I realized that this is not just another piece of junk mail and read the message, one thing stood out to me: what I called a “tri-forkation”
I am not going to analyze the contents; it has been done here extensively, one thing I don’t remember reading about is the 3 forced “choices” Jesus is thought to be viewed as: an infant, a dying man, an exalted king.
So, no other options?
How about:
-The Savior – for most of Christianity
-The Infidel – for most of the hard-core Muslim world
-A mythological figure – for atheists
-Never heard of him – for who knows how many people around the world.
-etc,
Why limit the choice to only 3 possible options, ignore the rest and then invite me to TELL me which one it is?

Joliette,
At a first glance I read that they used the pool at the hotel to get dunked ; what was I thinking...
Does your mom seem to appreciate your going the extra mile? Not sure what your relationship is with her, but being kind can't hurt...

Stopped Dead Again.
by truthseeker1969 inas many of you are aware my brother who is an elder, shared with me another "shut this down moment" in a jc.
a brother who was to go before another body of elders told them that since they had contacted his former congregation they had lost their ecclesiastical privelege and that information they had is now subject to the data protection law including records etc.
when he was told he could not take notes he told the elders the same that they had to abide by the same non scriptural mandate.. apparently it was enough to shut the proceedings down until they called the "mother ship" for instructions.. they were told not to proceed with anything at this time until they got back to the elders.. my brother who hates jc totally said that more and more they are finding people quoting the law to them and the elders are backing off, not sure about the us where they can do anything they please but in the uk the dpa has really messed things up for the society.

Nice, truth.
I can't say for sure in the United States, but I always wondered if a lawsuit is brought against the BOE, WT, etc after DF, can the process of Subpoena and Discovery be used to unearth the documents of the JC.
Of course one has to be able to afford it in a first place, but it's just a thought...maybe BoTR or other poster with legal background/knowledge can speak for the US.
Do tell us more about it though.

BANNED words in the Education System (eye opening!)
by Terry innew york (cbsnewyork) george carlin is rolling over in his grave.. the new york city department of education is waging a war on words of sorts, and is seeking to have words they deem upsetting removed from standardized tests.. marla diamond talks to walcott, student about banned words.
fearing that certain words and topics can make students feel unpleasant, officials are requesting 50 or so words be removed from city-issued tests.. the word dinosaur made the hit list because dinosaurs suggest evolution which creationists might not like, wcbs 880s marla diamond reported.
halloween is targeted because it suggests paganism; a birthday might not be happy to all because it isnt celebrated by jehovahs witnesses.. julie lewis family celebrates christmas and kwanzaa, but she told cbs 2s emily smith she wants her children to appreciate and learn about other holidays and celebrations.. theyre going to meet people from all walks of life and theyre going to have to learn to adjust, lewis said.. words that suggest wealth are excluded because they could make kids jealous.

Facebook and employment interviews
by DaCheech inlistening to this in the news got me infuriated!.
there is a growing trend that employment interviewers are asking for facebook profile with login password.. they are looking into everything you post.. there is no law in the books to prevent this!.
even though i'm self employed, i think this goes beyond what's required of hirees!.

Sammie, also, the mere mechanics of a purchase or whereabouts are so far trackable and "useful" to interested parties that offer services. That's not news.
What the conventional data collection - through methods of payment and goods purchased - lacks is the behavioral element. I am talking about reactions to certain news, situations, restrictions, liberties, etc which are readily available by the fingerprints of your interaction with your "friends".
This is what concerns me the most. The fact that at a point someone can buy the data of how, for example, the 25-35 year olds react to the increase of taxes, how long they keep the upheavel alive and what kind of "new cool video" yanks their alarming attention to a real issue in a different irrelevant direction.
This is just one very rough and basic example of a sinister use of data, collected while you thought you were simply feeding your virtual cows...
So let me repeat - screw FB.

True, Sammie, but for the time being I am not willing to just hand it over. And for what? For the privilege of paying real money, so my virtual salad can grow?
